Did the creators of this comic book take-off intend to create a cult classic full of comedy gold and poignant messages? Perhaps not, but that's exactly what they did. A musical romp stacked with talent and fun - this Riverdale comic book spin-off became an instant hit when released in 2001.

It's hard to put your finger on why. Some say its the ensemble cast featuring it-girl of the time Rachael Leigh Cook, the heavily underrated Rosario Dawson and British adept Alan Cumming - the latter of whom makes the whole movie hum. But we think it's the soundtrack. Hooking straight into the sensibilities of the pop punk explosion of the early 2000s, it's awash with angsty relationship drama fuelled bangers. And of course, the accompanying script hits all the right notes about sticking it to the man and keeping the recording industry independent.
