Country Vinyl Collection: Classic Albums from the heartland

Country music, so the story goes, was born in the Appalachian Mountains. As hill-dwelling rural citizens (often named Billy, thus the phrase Hillbilly), began making music using the instruments available to them - guitars, banjos and fiddles. Heavily influenced by immigrant introduced British and Irish Folk music and Blues, this new type of song, characterised by sharp, short tones (what would come to be known as 'twang) gained momentum. Further influenced by the Tin Pan Alley songwriters from New York, Country music was born. It went on to beget numerous sub-genres.

Our Country vinyl collection features some of those early pioneers, as well as all of the artists who've populated Country subgenres through the years. Even though it's popular to make fun of modern Country, we owe it more than most realise - including the existence of Taylor Swift. Naturally, vinyl is the only medium worth listening to Country music on.
