Taylor Swift - Lover (Limited Coloured 2LP)

Lover is probably the only pure Pop record we have in the Bayou Records catalogue. It's here because it represents a stark change in direction for Taylor Swift. On Lover, her melodies and lyrics de-commercialised a little. They also gained some depth and shed the icky over-produced money-grab that was the production on Reputation. She had moved on from the new wave / synth pop feel of 1989 but had simultaneously returned to writing really good pop songs. If you listen carefully, you can hear all the right influences returning. Predictably, the singles aren't the best songs on the record. "I Forgot That You Existed" is a 1970's singer-songwriter track. "Paper Rings" is a Country Rock track, and "The Man" is an 80s Power Pop anthem.
